CASSANDRA—It wasn’t a bad date. No, it was actually a pretty good date. Most of the dates I go on aren’t BAD, Sally. It’s just, you know, it’s hard—getting back out there again. And of course, there’s the whole self-esteem thing. For example, I’m fixing up my makeup right before I get out of the car, and I start to notice all these skin issues I swear weren’t there when I left the house. I feel like I’m the crypt keeper, so that doesn’t exactly help my confidence. I’m paranoid as hell. I go in the restaurant, worried the cute young waiter will ask me if I want the early bird senior special. Or worse, that my date will ask for it like last time! Ugh, how humiliating. (beat) You know, I’ve heard that Jill is having a great time with her 25-year-old boyfriend. She’s never felt better, she says. I’ve been thinking about becoming a cougar. No, really. You’d think it would just make you feel older, right? But from what she says, dating a younger guy is pretty glamorous. She says he treats her like a queen. Boy, I’d love to be treated like a queen. That’d be a nice change.
